Well-Known Wrestlers Turned Actors

A big part of professional wrestling is showmanship; being able to wow the crowd while also finding new and innovative ways of beating a competitor. What this also means is that a memorable wrestler is one that can remain memorable, whether that’s through feats of physical strength, or from having enough charisma to charm the audience.

A lot of pro wrestlers also naturally make good actors, and many of them have, in fact, gone on to become famous movie stars. Here we will look at a number of pro wrestlers that would expand their international fame in Hollywood.

Dave Bautista

Dave Bautista started out in the pro wrestling scene with not a lot of experience under his belt, and was told by officials of the WCW that would would never make a name for himself in professional sports entertainment. It’s something that Bautista took to heart, and he worked hard to transform himself into a television star in a short amount of time. But Bautista wouldn’t stop there, and eventually starred in massive Hollywood blockbusters, including Guardians Of The Galaxy, where he played Drax the Destroyer.

John Cena

John Cena has earned fame both in the ring and on the big screen, and has become something of a truly competent actor over the years. He came into Hollywood due to his charisma as a pro wrestler, and it didn’t take long for him to land memorable roles. He’s worked in such films as Trainwreck and the latest Suicide Squad film, where he stood out among the other actors in the movie. He’s also acting in a number of television series, and has become a popular meme in the online world. Wherever Cena has gone, he’s made a name for himself, and is generally liked by most people.

Andre The Giant

Andre the Giant quickly earned a reputation due his size, his hands alone were able to crush entire soda cans with ease. But he also gained fame thanks to his time in the pro wrestling ring, with his large size and larger-than-life persona that drove the crowd wild. But perhaps his most well-known achievement is of playing Fezzik, a character in the timeless classic The Princess Bride. It would be the only film that Andre would star in, but it made him something of a living legend, and he made the performance truly memorable.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson

Dwayne Johnson, more commonly known as The Rock, has come a long way since his days in the pro wrestling circuit, and has established himself as one of the most popular actors in Hollywood right now, as well as a popular media figure, from video games to sports betting in NZ. Part of it is his size – he eats around 15000 calories a day to maintain his muscle mass – but also because he’s usually a fairly likeable presence on the big screen. He’s starred in a number of lead roles over the years, and has become quite a good actor in his own right.
